THE SEARCH FOR A HOME

We all dream of owning and having a house. The thought of it may be daunting to a lot of us. Because the concept of ownership comes with finances and sometimes the finance may not be readily available to us. But solutions are always available around the corner. Finding solutions is a topic that we will address and deal with another time.

My concern right now however is the fact that in trying to find that house we lose ourselves and forget about the exciting element which is finding and creating a home. A house could be an empty shell, but this could be easily converted into a place we would call home. A place for us to hide from the pressure, tension, noise that goes with life and trying to make it in this competitive world.

Once we understand that an empty shell can easily be converted into a home – a place we are safe, a place we can exhale, a place we can have that rest and just be us. This would take away the pressure in our home search, where we would not look for a house that fits into our dream home which finances may not allow us to achieve but we would look for an affordable house that meets our budget, but we can turn into a home.

A house is just brick and mortar or wood that has been put together, but a home is made of the softer things that would depict our personality, lifestyle and what is important to us. So why not find a simple house that meets the budget and would not create unnecessary stress on our finances and then work

that magic that would bring out the wow factor when we have friends and family visit. The wow factor does not only have to be for people external to the home but most importantly is for us.  The home firstly and most importantly belongs to us before it is opened up to others, be It family , friends and work mates. So the most important thing is for it to “wow” us when we walk through those doors. Walking into the home then has this natural massaging effect when you are stressed or this sudden revitalizing energy effect when our spirits are down.

The emphasis is then to cut our coat according to our size and get that affordable house either to rent or to buy. Once it is rented or bought it is yours then you create that home effect and convert the hard physical structure into that soft place you can call home.

This article is therefore to encourage you, not to lose hope even if your finances cannot afford that luxurious multi bedroom house but you can still go for the two or the one bed house for sale or rent, work some magic with it and create that soft home effect regardless of your finances. So go out there and get that house that is within your budget without any qualms and know that you can still personalize it and create that wow effect.

In part two we would look at how to convert that house into a real home
